The game got off to a slow start in the early hours of Sunday morning. The windy weather soon shook away the sleepy heads on the pitch and the game livened up.

Many thanks to the hosting team for an outstanding hockey match and great sportsmanship.

Match Reports 10th/11th December
Sunday last saw Limericks 1st's travel to Bandon for the top of the table clash, but alas Limerick were well beaten on the day 6-2. Late withdrawals of players from the squad meant the shannonsiders only travelled with 10 players and a 10 minute sin binning for Robbie Ryan further reduced the numbers. Thomas Clarke and Nathan Eacrett got Limericks goals with Melvin Buttimer, Aamir Kahn and Robbie Ryan all having numerous efforts saved by a busy Bandon keeper. Despite numerical disadvantage throughout the game Limerick created more opportunities and had more possession but were constantly stretched in midfield.Team-J.Scheffel, R.Doherty, P.Eacrett, T.Gray, M.Buttimer, T.Clarke, M.Manning, R.Ryan, A.Kahn, N.Eacrett.

Limerick Men's 2nds played Bandon at home. Limerick started strongly, and after some reshuffling of positions, the team finally gelled. Limerick were unlucky to go down 0-1 after a Bandon goal within the first 25 minutes, but a classic Tom Clarke equaliser just before half time meant the half time score was locked at 1 all. Limerick seconds have rarely beaten Bandon, but a fighting second half, and a great goal to George Blackwell, saw Limerick leading 2-1 midway through the second half. Limerick fought off attack after attack from Bandon and managed to keep them scoreless in the second half, with the final score being 2-1 in a memorable win for the team. Special mention should go to George Blackwell for showing you are never too old to play Center Half and goal keeper Mark Armitage who had a blinder!
